WEDNESDAY WOMAN: BETTY WHITE
For my table of eight, Betty White would certainly be on the guest list! I simply love that woman! She has the longest tv career of any celebrity, spanning more than 80 years, yet to listen to her now, she is so humble, modernistic in her views, and a lot of fun! Betty is probably best known for her parts as Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rose on The Golden Girls, and Elka in Hot in Cleveland.
I admire the way she still jumps into life and at 97 wants to still keep working and contribute to life. She is a typical hardworking Capricorn in that regard! You can tell she is a Capricorn by her down-to-earth no-nonsense attitude to life! I love her quick wit and saucy sense of humour! And her gratitude for every kindness extended to her in life. Her words of advice on growing old gracefully are ones I have taken very much to heart. At 97 she sure is a WOW WOMAN!!
“There’s no formula. Keep busy with your work and your life. You can’t become a professional mourner. It doesn’t help you or others. Replay the good times. Be grateful for the years you had.”
She doesn’t just say the above words, she truly lives her life by them. Such a positive, kind-hearted, and lovely human being. Her lifelong dedication to animals is legendary and she has done so much to improve the lives of animals. She has used her platform to further their cause and says you can tell a lot about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal! My sentiments precisely! Betty White is indeed one of my role models as I continue my own adventures in life.
She is a perfect example of one who has grown old with grace, gratitude, and class, which is why she is my Wednesday Wow Woman today!!

MONDAY MUSINGS: LOVELY LIBRA!
“Leave every place you go, everything you touch, a little better for your having been there.”
Julie Andrews
Do you know that song which goes “All things bright and beautiful…” Whenever I listen to it, I think of Libra. This is the sign which has rulership of everything that is bright, beautiful, elegant, graceful, harmonious, balanced and fair — yes, that last one ‘Fair’ is an important one for Libra, who seeks justice, equality, and fairness above all else! Their symbol of the scales speaks for itself. Libra is a masculine, cardinal, air sign.
Masculine
Yes, they can kick ass, and fix anything, as good as any man if they have to!
Cardinal
They are initiators, go-getters. They don’t wait for life to happen to them – they make it happen!
Air
They are logical thinkers who get uncomfortable with too much slushy emotion! Keep it cool!
The sign of Libra is ruled by Venus, the Goddess of beauty. Every time I meet a person who has charisma and a beautiful smile, I know they must have some Libra tucked away in their birthchart! That Libra smile is legendary! Venus rules beauty, which is why her subjects, Libra, and Taurus, are often very beautiful and have a keen sense of aesthetics. Libra is the sign of the Interior Designer, Stylist, Musician, Lawyer, Mediator, and Diplomat.
Like their symbolic scales, Libras strive for balance and harmony in their lives. When things get out of whack, usually caused by ugliness, disharmony, unfairness, arguments, etc. you will see the other side of their coin manifest. The other side being their polar opposite sign of Aries. When push comes to shove, they too will become argumentative (don’t try to beat them in an argument!), feisty, and very determined! You see, despite all her obvious feminine charms, Libra is a masculine sign. Remember that! They fight for their rights! Think of the late English Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, dubbed ‘The Iron Lady’. She was no push-over, but equally could be very charming!
Yes, Libra women are incredibly capable, efficient, fast, smart, intelligent, and can do a job as good as any man – as long as it’s not working in a dark dismal coal mine or carrying heavy bricks on a building site! Men who want their women to be sweet and docile, should look the other way! These gals are Cardinal, which means they like to control their own lives. If you don’t love them like they want to be loved, are cheap, vulgar, coarse, and lacking in ambition — then it’s a Heave Ho!! Out you go! Off with the velvet glove and on with the boxing glove!! Don’t ever forget that Aries is the other side of their coin! Much as the Libra woman hates to be alone, she would rather that than to be with a brute who disrespects her! Amen to that, Lady Libra!
Sometimes the Libra woman finds it a tad tiresome always being the peacemaker, doing everything to avoid conflict, finding if difficult to say ‘NO!’ and being indecisive, seeing both sides of every situation, etc. It is at times like this that they should employ the characteristics of their polar opposite sign, Aries, which include direct honesty, decisiveness, and never doing anything that doesn’t feel right for them. That is the best strategy for their sense of inner peace and self control.
Celebrity Libras:
Susan Sarandon, Brigitte Bardot, Kim Kardashian, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julie Andrews, Avril Lavigne, Naomi Watts, Gwen Stefani, Kate Winslet, Heather Locklear, Margaret Thatcher, Judge Judy, Theresa May, Olivia Newton-John.
Mahatma Gandhi, Simon Cowell, Hugh Jackman, Michael Douglas, Imran Khan, Matt Damon, Roger Moore, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Luke Perry, Ryan Reynolds, John Lennon, Frankie Jonas, Jimmy Carter, Vladimir Putin.

FOODIE FRIDAY: HEARTY CURRIED LENTIL SOUP
TGIF guys!
Winter is on its windy way, so time to settle in and cozy up around the fire with a nice comforting bowl of soup. Who doesn’t love soup? People have been asking me for my secret recipe, so here it is below. I make a big pot which lasts all week. Nothing as delightful as coming in from the cold and in two minutes, a bowl of soup in hand to warm and soothe! I love food as much as I love fashion, so every other Friday it will be Foodie Friday, and then Fashion Friday, where I share recipes and fashion tips. Hope you enjoy!
If you don’t already have one, I would seriously recommend you invest in a slow cooker, or crock pot, as it’s known over here in Canada. They are not too expensive, just like a big saucepan really! I love my crock pot and would go crazy without it lol! It cooks overnight while I sleep — how easy is that? You can do stews in it, or butter chicken, chili, soup — you name it! Tough meat becomes tender! It’s magic!!
HEARTY CURRIED LENTIL SOUP
I packet of green or brown lentils (around 3 cups or 900 g)
2 veggie or chicken stock cubes (I’m vegetarian so use veggie cubes)
4 carrots cubed
2 potatoes
I large white onion
4 tbsp. curry powder
3 stalks of celery
2 tbsps. olive oil for frying
2 big fat cloves of garlic is optional!
Method:
Chop onion and cook in olive oil until soft.
Squeeze in the garlic here if you so desire it! (I love garlic in everything, except ice cream!)
Rince lentils carefully to remove grit and grime.
Meanwhile, boil kettle and melt stock cubes in 6 cups of hot water. Add to crock pot.
Add lentils, chopped potatoes, chopped carrot and chopped celery to pot.
Mix in curry powder, less or more, depending on how hot you like it!
Mix everything around in the pot cosily before tucking it in for the night!
Say goodnight to your pot and then head to bed!
In the morning, it may be a bit thick as lentils tend to thicken up! I keep adding more water until it is the consistency I like — not too thick, not too watery, as that takes the flavour away!
Taste it for flavour! If you like it, have a bowl for breakfast — it’s hard to resist!!
Happy Friday!
Hugs,

WEDNESDAY WOW WOMAN: MOTHER TERESA
Hi Guys,
I have always loved and greatly admired the grit, determination, and voracious spirit of Mother Teresa. Maybe it’s because she had a lot in common with my own Mother! They both were named Teresa, and both were hardworking and compassionate Virgos. Virgos are known as the ‘Good Samaritans of the Zodiac’ and with good reason too. They like to feel useful, are pragmatic, and busy themselves doing good, either for their family, animals, their work, their community, or as in the case of Mother Teresa, the poverty stricken and homeless souls. As with all Saints, they leave their own needs for last, and beat themselves up the most!
What I loved about Mother Teresa is that she was a mix of hard-nosed businesswoman and soft- hearted humanitarian. She could have run any company and whipped them all into shape! Good on her! She would meet with big businessmen and try and cut a good deal for the poor and then go out and actually feed the people. No sooner said than done — so acts your woman of worth!
I would like to leave your today with one of my very favourite Mother Teresa poems. Every time I read it, it erases all irritations! Whenever I feel the need to be a Saint in my own life, I read it over and over again!
“People are often unreasonable and self centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”

MONDAY MUSINGS: SEASONAL JOY!
Hi Guys,
How was your weekend? Did you manage to do something that lifted your spirits? Injected a delicious dose of fun into your lives? Indulged in a creamy cappuccino? Had your hair done? Treated yourself to something new? Got totally lost in a new book while wearing your cozy book-reading socks? I really do hope you did something nice for yourself because every time you do, it strengthens your immune system — immunity to the hardships and disappointments of life. You gotta build yourself up! Right?
This past weekend was a cozy one as I started to gradually put up my Autumn decorations. I have a room in my basement which I call ‘Holiday Hall’ lol! In it I keep all my seasonal decorations. I got them ALL covered, starting with Chinese New Year in February, followed by Valentine’s Day when everything is Red! Next there is the Green month, St. Patrick’s Day when I go all green (even in my clothing!!), followed by Easter with its lovely pastels of baby pink, lemon and lilac. A break for Summer as my energy goes outside to enjoy the long lazy hazy days of Summer.
Now, the evenings are getting shorter and the falling leaves have the same colour scheme as my clothing: burnt orange, golden yellow, burgundy, and khaki green. We’re starting to cozy up inside and get the home fires burning. Here in Canada, we’re preparing for the long Thanksgiving weekend which falls around the 10th of October. I start bringing the Fall decorations out as I herald in one of my favourite seasons of the year. Of course, the decorations will intensify for Halloween. I just love Halloween. Always have, ever since I was a child. Must be the witch in me!! I don’t do skulls, skeletons, or vomity stuff! Only Princesses, Pumpkins, and pretty things.
Then there is Christmas!!! A whole chapter in itself, and the whole month of December! God always leaves the best for last! The simple task of moving my home and my wardrobe to accommodate the changing seasons is something that brings enormous joy to my life. Which leaves me with this question. What brings JOY to your life? Whatever it is, do it, because you’re worth it. You really are! Have a great start to the week and be sure to tune in Wednesday to meet my Wednesday Wow Woman!
Hugs,
