FASHION FRIDAY: IT’S ALL ABOUT HAT-ITTUDE!!

35E2E150-492F-49DF-821B-9F3373D4AD5C

TGIF Guys!

Wishing you all a glorious weekend wherever you may find yourselves. If it’s sunny, get yourself a wide brimmed straw hat and soak up some rays! That’s exactly what I plan to do this weekend. When it comes to hats, while I love wearing them, I’m always fearful that my hat will blow away, so my latest discovery has been brilliant! In hat one, you will notice the string and bead beneath my chin. An ingenius idea! I call it the Crocodile Dundee look or rather the Bo Derrick lol!

605C9380-2599-4FFB-BF11-5DDC5F8A8517 9097E18C-D06B-4941-8637-4593C20E9E7D

My latest little project has been to go to the Bead Store in downtown Victoria. I bought yards of suede string and chose some lovely beads. Now, I plan to attach these to all my hats. That way I can fully relax while wearing it. Victoria can get pretty windy, especially down by the ocean! Another hat tip I discovered is if your hat is too loose, simply sew some velcro inside the rim of the hat. The velcro takes up more head space and sure works!

Another great thing about wearing a hat is it keeps the sun off your face. It also cools you down and in these C-19 days when hairdressers are at a premium, it can be a blessing! I still have not had my hair done and it’s nearly 4 months! Only two more weeks to wait. Thank you straw hats for coming to my hair rescue!

So, if you fear your hat is going to blow away — now you know what to do!

Happy Sunning!

MONDAY MUSINGS: CLEANING UP OUR ACT!

15D9B6A6-D29C-4380-A2BB-E46B09A29DE4

Hi Guys,

2020 is certainly a year we will all remember for the rest of our lives. This Double -Double year, as it has been called, is very unique — certainly from an Astrological viewpoint! Rarely do you have 6 eclipses in a year, the usual number is 4. (This year having 4 lunar and 2 solar eclipses). Rarely do you have so many planets retrograding all at the very same time! Add to that the fact the big players, Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn, are all in the challenging sign of Capricorn! Having Jupiter and Pluto in conjunction (closely connected) would explain the COVID-19 epidemic! Pluto is a planet which is associated with disease and death. As the largest planet in the solar systerm, Jupiter expands everything it comes in contact with! To say this disease has expanded would be an understatement!

Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn, known as the Planet of Karma, so putting two and two together (pardon the pun 2020!) there is an explanation for all the current world mayhem — but then there always is ‘up above’. Just taking one word from the three big planetary players — Pluto: Disease, Jupiter: Expansion, Saturn: Karma — makes us realize there was nothing we could have done to change the course! It was meant to happen. And we have all chosen to be here living out these page books of history! Sometimes, in the midst of all this self-isolation-keep-your-distance unspoken language that I see all around me, I wonder why? I mean I can totally ‘get’ the advantage of cleaning up our planet, families spending more quality time together, living a more simple life, less pressure on people, etc. but ‘people avoidance’ is going down a road I’m not altogether happy with.

Shops are closing. People buying on Amazon, etc. our world is becoming so impersonal! Maybe for the younger generation, what they never knew, they will not miss. But there is something really special about devouring eye candy in a shop, the visual and tactile impact, the bright lights of possibility. When I first came to Canada over 20 years ago, I was very lonely and missed home, so going out to the shops, chatting with the shop assistants, feeling the power of a purchase, etc. it always gave me a little lift! I like shops, I like restaurants, I like coffee shops — I like people! C-19 you have destroyed the world I once knew!

Life as we knew it prior to 2020 is definitely changing. We hope it will return to normal, but in truth many of us know the reverse is true! Sadly, some have lost loved ones to COVID-19, as well as losing jobs, their sense of identity, etc. During Venus Retrograde, many relationships have not been able to withstand the pressure of C-19  and many are deciding to go their separate ways. Kelly Clarkson just recently announced she was filing for divorce and there will be many more. Fortunately, Venus will turn direct on June 25th, so we can breathe easy after that!

I have been reading lots of contrasting stories from people around the world and how they are reacting to all the C-19 mayhem. Some people say they are really happy spending more time at home, and that they are enjoying the peace and calm of a more simple life. People are enjoying being out in nature more, walking more, breathing in the fresh air, etc. One lady’s daily steps went from 5000 to 20,000 daily! Working parents are enjoying spending more quality time with their families. That’s a good thing! Animals cannot speak for themselves, but I am sure they are thrilled to have had more time with their family.

Jupiter Retrograde is making us all look at the ‘Big Picture’ of our lives and questioning what we want to do with our lives now. How do we wish to spend it? In offices? At home with our loved ones? What changes do we need to make in our lives to feel actualized? Spiritually, physically, emotionally? Yes, there are lots of questions swimming around in all our heads currently. Uranus Retrograde sees us all wanting more freedom, and as the planet of revolution, we can see how that is panning out in America currently.

But, in conclusion — it’s a good thing! I’m all for liberation too! Freedom from Racism is most definitely a good thing! Thank you Uranus for getting the revolution started!

Freedom from the tyranny of a job that keeps you away long hours from your family! Thank you Jupiter for making us look into our hearts and seek balance in our lives.

Toxic Relationships that are not going anywhere, domestic abuse, incompatibility, etc. Thank you Venus Retrograde for making us question the truth and harmony our hearts are seeking.

It makes me very happy to see that Planet Earth is in much better shape as a result of C-19. Cleaning up our act was a good thing to do. Even if push did come to shove! It’s our duty really, to leave our Planet in better working condition for future generations to come. Thank you Saturn for the pain of C-19! No pain, No gain! It was KARMA after all! And you made us do it!

Now that we have all suffered enough, can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back hugs? I guess we can still smile with our eyes above the masks — or better still wear see through masks so people can see us smiling at them.

PEACE AND LOVE MY FRIENDS!

HUGS — even if they are virtual, but I’m sending you one now.

FASHION FRIDAY: FORTY SHADES OF GREEN!

18677A8B-BE56-4430-B671-F998E527437A

TGIF Guys!

I absolutely love the colour green! Like the fields of Ireland, I have at least forty shades of it hanging in my wardrobe. Whenever I wear the colour green, I feel calm and grounded. At one point, my children used to call me ‘Lima bean’ because of my fondness for the colour lime!

Outfit one:
FF96CE0D-8D61-477F-8AD4-EF6AE2F5D720 EB21FA47-FECF-4448-9FC8-CD599BA3B7E7
1DCB640E-5CA3-438C-B1C7-024D9A8FE0F0FE663424-3F13-48FE-A4DA-D36EEAD3DFDF

This one is decidedly lime! It is a firm favourite of mine, especially when travelling to warm climates. I wore it going to Cuba some years ago, and also to Spain. It is made of linen, so very comfortable and cool to wear in the heat. Its asymmetrical shape looks better in real life and gives it quite a unique and stylish touch. I wear it with navy or black leggings and statement jewellery pieces. I absolutely love my LL (Libra Locus) earrings which complement my pendant and chunky bracelets. This style never dates and I feel it’s ‘age-appropriate’. Whenever I wear this outfit, people comment on how stylish I am looking. You can dress it up, or dress it down.

Outfit two:
C275942B-CDDB-4672-B294-81F47CA30C12 0878EEDD-8ECA-4971-B60B-71CA5A403FB6

This is my happy outfit! The pants are Jones of New York, made of cotton, and so comfortable to wear. There is also something timeless about a white crisp denim jacket. I get to wear this one a lot in the summer. I love multicoloured pants because you can pull out any of the colours with a matching t-shirt. I have worn blue, green, white, and lime t-shirts with these pants and they all look great. I call it my happy outfit because every time I wear it, people comment on how much they love it. It’s a keeper for sure!

Hope you are enjoying your Summer, despite COVID-19! While it has put a bit of a spanner in the works, there is nothing so mood altering as sunshine, fresh air, and wearing an outfit you love!

Sending Hugs your way!

MONDAY MUSINGS: THE TRICKSTER IS COMING!!

F66FC8FB-F3E1-4445-A419-02CD92F16182

Hi Guys,

I don’t know how you are doing, but Lord help me, my head has recently been fuzzy-duzzy and loosey-goosey! So much so, I have to be very careful we don’t eat Coco’s dog food, thinking it is baked beans! Seriously, I’m that woozy these days! From my spaced-out brain, the cans look very similar! I could list a number of near ‘faux-pas’ I’ve had recently. I like to be able to pass the blame to somebody else, the weather, the social-isolation, etc. but in this case, there is an obvious culprit — Mercury! Yes, he is going retrograde on Thursday next, but he lets us know in advance that he is on his way! The fact we are currently in Gemini season, which is ruled by Mercury, would account for the intensity of the wooziness this time. That, and all the other planets currently retrograde.

Because Mercury rules Virgo and Gemini, these two signs have to be really on their A game! Especially Gemini, who can be careless at times. Virgo, as a sign, is always on the ball! But people may not be playing the game the way they like to, which is precise, methodical, and with care! I’m a Pisces, so we share a Mutable connection. Mutable signs (Gemini, Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius) are all about the communication, words, and attention to detail. And if that is not good — Yikes! You will forget to put in the baking soda in your banana bread recipe, like I did recently, and end up having to throw it out! A baking disaster, I agree, is not nearly as tumultuous as other disasters, like computers, driving errors, work errors, etc. but you get the idea?

So, all of you reading this now know the drill — and in case you don’t, here’s a little reminder!

Mercury will be retrograde from June 18th – July 12th.

During this time, please:

Be very careful reading the fine print on any documents you have to sign.

Check, re-check, double-check, triple-check, on any questions you may have on anything!

Slow down! Especially when driving!

Breathe, especially before driving and Pay Attention! Please!

Hold off on buying any new computers, machinery, etc. Back-up the ones you have!

This is a time to re-visit, re-wind, re-charge, re-connect, re-view, etc.

It’s a time when things are generally not as clear or as sharp as they should be. People are a little careless, not paying attention to the details of life, and mistakes, sometimes costly ones, can happen!

So, just stay grounded, be as alert as you can be, don’t let yourself become impatient or irritable, especially when people around you are not as attentive, are not returning emails, are not replying to your phone message, etc. Realize it’s just ‘The Trickster!’ and he will be heading off into hibernation on July 12th. In the meantime, chillax and go with the planetary program. But know what you know! Snooze-control!

Peace & Love!

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY: THE ‘F’ WORDS

B398F653-D767-4AD6-A30A-906A98F6DBF4

Hi Guys,

TGIF! There is something about Friday that I absolutely love. Maybe it’s because it’s a Venus day, and Venus is the Goddess of all that is pleasant and beautiful. Hey! It’s also an ‘F’ word! lol! When I worked in a conventional 9-5 job, Friday was always fun. It was pub night, casual-dress-day, bring-in-a-cake-day. Happy Day! And you had all the weekend ahead to play and relax.

I still love Fridays, even though with COVID-19, I sometimes have to ask myself ‘What day is it today?’ — you know what I mean! This Friday morning, even though it was bleak and raining outside, I lay in my cozy bed, yummy coffee in hand, and planned my day. I thought about how very important the ‘F’ words are to me. How those ‘F’ words really rein me in, and help me stay happy and motivated to take on the challenges of each day. Yes, the ‘F’ word is indeed loaded lol! These are my favourite ‘F’ words!

FAITH: I start and end each day with a prayer — without it, I’d be lost.

FITNESS: I still struggle with that, however, a daily walk works wonders!

FOOD: Whenever I ‘scribble what I nibble’ I end up more disciplined!

FINANCES: Living ‘within my means’ has proved to be a good thing!

FAMILY & FRIENDS:   But of course!!

I follow a fabulous YouTube blogger, Dominique Sachse, whom I would highly recommend to you. Yesterday, she had a Psychologist on her show giving advice on how to take care of yourself in these pandemic times. Followers of Dominique were very stressed, anxious, depressed, and needed HELP bigtime. It was an S.O.S. of sorts. The bottom line, and what I really took from the show, was the supreme importance of being good to yourself. You really cannot be of any help to others, unless you take good care of yourself first. Simple, but so true! So how do you take care of yourself? Are you a good parent to yourself? I truly hope so! What are your ‘F’ words? I also love the word ‘Freedom’. Freedom from stress and worry.

My two bedside books are JOY in every moment written by Tzivia Gover which is lovely to glance at first thing in the morning to inspire me for the day, and last thing at night to put my mind in cruise control for a peaceful night’s sleep. Here is where I bring in one of my ‘F’ words — Food! If you want a peaceful night’s sleep, DO NOT go to bed on a full stomach — been there, done that, and a restless night’s sleep ensues!

A0399B86-1D61-4D33-90E7-9032E0132B4B 05855E2E-3C94-445B-8E58-E5952E588040

The other book I have beside me is my Five-Minute Journal. I cannot believe just how powerful this little book is! I write in 3 things I am grateful for each day. Simple. Last thing at night I do a quick re-cap of the day. Naturally, I just want to be able to relay good stuff! It really does help me to stay positive! Again, I would highly recommend you get one. The above image is a typical page from my FMJ! When asked ‘ What would make today great?’ here is where my ‘F’ words come in!

I hope you do something special for yourself this weekend! Remember, the happiness buck begins with you! You are the Captain of your ship. The Master of your soul!

Peace & Love!
