AFFIRMATIONS

 

It was snowing outside, dreary grey skies threatened to bring me down, my close friend’s husband is fighting for his life in hospital and going to miss her 60th birthday celebrations on Friday, and the dryer had gone for a holiday, leaving me stuck as I board a plane for Calgary on Thursday. Yes, there were enough flurries to make this one hell of a snowy day!!

Suddenly, Mr. Positive Affirmation knocked on the door of my head space. He was a welcome guest. He couldn’t have come at a better time! The following is what he told me to say over and over and over again, until a smile replaced my frown.

I am excited to see what the Lord has planned for me today!

Just the very word ‘excited’ raised my happiness level. And yes, today turned out to be a very wonderful day! A shop I frequented in town was closing down and selling everything at 50% off. I was able to get gifts, plus cards for some birthdays I have been invited to. Another miracle happened which I shall keep to myself, as the people involved would prefer it that way!

Since it was Monday, I decided to head into McDonald’s to enjoy their ‘McMonday special’. Cappuccinos are only $1 that day – best value in town!! I think their cappuccinos are even nicer than Starbucks. I was thrilled to discover the girl who served it to me was somebody I knew from the homeless shelter. She used to come in and enjoy the Bingo. Suddenly, she stopped coming and I was very worried that she may have got into drugs, or worse. I really liked her, so imagine my delight to see her smiling face, happily working on the cash register. She had a look of pride on her face as she showed me her latest tattoo. It made my day!!

Lastly, I found the PERFECT cap for my friend’s husband. He sadly lost his hair during radiation treatment. He loves the colour navy, and has Irish lineage, so I got him a fabulous navy cap from the Irish store downtown. It has a shamrock on it. I know he will LOVE it!!

All I can say about today is GOD IS GOOD!!!
