OPERATION TRANSFORMATION!

For the 40 days of Lent, instead of abstaining from treats, I pledged this year to donate 40 items of unwanted goodies from my home to charity. Since I was away in Ireland and Spain, it would have been virtually impossible to abstain from treats!! Marie Kondo would have been seriously impressed at my efforts. For those of you not familiar with Marie Kondo, she is the bestselling author of the book entitled ‘The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up.’

My purge began with releasing my beloved Lulu’s possessions. This included her basket, blankets, and food. Since she went to doggie heaven 5th February, she has no need for them anymore. I donated those to the local SPCA and that made some rescue puppies very happy!

Next, my wardrobe! I released loads of clothing, shoes, boots. They gave me good service. Now, they will give even better service to somebody else. I love the way Marie Kondo suggests thanking your unwanted items before tossing. So cute! She suggests that if something does not ‘Spark Joy’, then release it from your possession. So, I would ask myself ‘Does this item spark joy?’ If it didn’t, well then Adieu my friend!

Let me assure you, this took time! I began the process before I went to Europe, and continued it when I came home, fresh from my travels!

Next on my list was my Bling! I wanted to donate it to people who would really appreciate it. My first thought was the women at the homeless shelter and Bingo! What perfect prizes they would make! So, with a creative eye, I compiled little bags of jewellery, not unlike the treasure from Aladdin’s cave. I even fell back in love with them…but NO!!!! No, I would not allow myself to fall back in love with them. They had to GO!! I will bring them to Bingo and use them as prizes.

One woman’s junk (actually, I don’t like that word!) is another woman’s treasure!
